The Least to be Leased

The Least to be Leased

This is why we do what we do.  Clarence James Rogers read this to us all at one of our events, and while there wasn’t a dry eye in the house, there also wasn’t a face that didn’t have a smile on it.  This is what it’s all about.  Everyone wants a place to call home, some dignity, a purpose. For those that may not be able to read the poem, in it’s formatted size, the entire poem is listed below:

The Least to be Leased

For all those days, when you just wanted to stay at home, but managed to negotiate your release from your beds, two-handed grip; Thank You!

For all those days, when you may have felt, overworked, underpaid, and under-appreciated, you weren’t.  Thank you!

For every time you look past a client and did not what you wanted to do, but what was required, thank you!  It’s really why you were hired.

“Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart”. Of Gods bigger purpose and better plan, you are all an integral part.

For every time the sunshine comes through “My blinds”, because you all made it possible to sign on the dotted line, I am flooded with God’s love, grace, mercy, comfort and peace of mind. Thank you!

You can believe this by faith, and know that it’s true; The angels are rejoicing, the heavenly hosts are happy, as God smiles down on you.

There may not be a lot of visible evidence on earth, so, from the physical equation, remove the way you feel.  For the love you all demonstrate to the “Least of these,” with God, it’s a big deal.

You are all unsung heroes, on the frontline, in the war against poverty and homelessness. Thank you, I love you, God Bless!  For you and your families, I pray the best in health, happiness and success.

To the entire Inner Voice Staff

With Gratitude

Please help us continue our mission.
We have big plans for 2018!

Gratitude changes everything - handwriting on a napkin with a cup of espresso coffee

As you gather with your loved ones for the holidays and the New Year celebrations, savor the laughter, the love and the warm place to land.  And feel gratitude.  And it is with gratitude that the Inner Voice family extends the warmest of wishes for this holiday season and a blessed and bountiful 2018. We thank you for your support throughout the year and for never forgetting those less fortunate.
We accomplished a great deal this year at Inner Voice, and have big plans for 2018.
Here are just a few of our 2017 accomplishments!
  • Updated Eddie Beard Vet Housing with new appliances, new storage, painted bathrooms and made the outside sidewalk and back porch stairs/deck safer for our vets. All this through the help of committed volunteers through Sears and ReBuilding Together
  • Housed 17 veterans through the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program, providing them a place to call home and living wage employment.
  • The Eddie Beard Veterans Interim Housing (EBVH) got their first vegetable 🥒 garden this past Spring thanks to funds raised at the memorial of Thurman Wright, father of Sean Harden, Inner Voice’s Board Chair.
  • Through the continued generosity of Rush Presbyterian-Labor and Delivery, the Peninsula and Bloomingdales, we are approaching our 10th year of providing holiday gifts to some of the children and families that we serve.
But, we couldn’t do any of this without you, and a group of committed staff and volunteers. It is together that we all make a difference.
As you celebrate the New Year festivities this year and feeling that gratitude to be surrounded by those you love, and that warm roof over your head, please remember those less fortunate that we serve on a daily basis.
Because everyone deserves “A Place To Call Home”.
Whether it’s a donation of support or an end of the year donation for tax purposes, please know that it all matters. We appreciate you every day and wish you a wonderful 2018. Before you pop those champagne corks, please take a moment to click on the below link and donate. You can go to our support us page of our new website here.
Thank you and we wish you peace and prosperity in 2018!

Their Heart Beats Loudly for Those We Serve

heart of a marine

heart of a marineWe can’t thank this organization enough for their tireless efforts to help us bring comfort, dignity and housing to the veterans we serve. From helping us paint common areas, to donated household goods to make these buildings and houses homes, and so much more than can be mentioned in one past. They truly understand the hearts of our veterans. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to your hearts.

Dressing the Part

Mens-Wearhouse-logo_BWFor eight years, Mens WearHouse has been donating mens suits to Inner Voice Chicago, helping those we serve feel good about themselves, building confidence, and helping them interview for jobs.  You all know how you feel about yourself when you know you look good, and we are thankful to Mens Wearhouse for helping boost confidence and helping our veterans and others we serve find work, so they can work towards independence.  We think this partnership really “suits” us.
