The Emergency Shelter Response Network
provides emergency shelter at 19 centers within the City of Chicago: seven for families,
eight for adult men, and four for adult women. In partnership with the
Chicago Department of Human Services, Inner Voice supervises all operations
at these neighborhood-based sites. Churches, nonprofit organizations and other
social service agencies operate the shelters, which provide 320 beds throughout
the year for homeless women with children and 575 emergency beds for single
men and women. Additional beds for single men and women are added to the
network from October 1 – March 31 to accommodate increased numbers during the
winter season.
