Housing and Rental Assistance:

We can help men, women and families obtain temporary or permanent housing, counseling services, utility assistance, or get help maintaining housing when emergencies occur.

The Chronic Homeless Initiative provides permanent housing and rental subsidies for chronically homeless single men and women.

The Emergency Shelter Response Network provides emergency shelter at 19 centers within the City of Chicago: seven for families, eight for adult men, and four for adult women. In partnership with the Chicago Department of Human Services, Inner Voice supervises all operations at these neighborhood-based sites. Churches, nonprofit organizations and other social service agencies operate the shelters, which provide 320 beds throughout the year for homeless women with children and 575 emergency beds for single men and women. Additional beds for single men and women are added to the network from October 1 – March 31 to accommodate increased numbers during the winter season.

The Family Regeneration Program provides assistance to chronically and episodically homeless families residing in emergency shelters. Each participating family receives a clinical assessment and an individualized service plan, including intensive case management, supportive services, and housing placement.

The Shelter Plus Care Program provides rental subsidies, case management, and supportive services to homeless persons with disabilities and their families.

Access to Recovery (ATR), sponsored by the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (DASA), provides recovery support services to probationers. Supportive Services include: Counseling, GED/Adult Literacy, Recovery Coaching, Employment, Peer Coaching/Mentoring, and Life Skills Training.
